Family Worker Support

July 2024

As we come to the end of another academic year, I would like to wish all the families leaving us the very best of luck for the future - it's been an absolute pleasure getting to know everyone over the last year. I look forward to seeing all our returning families again in September and hope you have a very well deserved break over the summer holidays.

The last day of term is Friday 19th July and nursery is closed to all children from Monday 22nd July to Friday 2nd August.  If you have an all-year contract or have pre-booked holiday club, nursery re-opens on Monday 5th August.  If you have a term-time contract, then children return on Wednesday 4th September.

As the weather is warming up, please ensure your child is always appropriately dressed for the weather.  If the forecast is hot and sunny, please apply sun cream to your child before they come to nursery and if your child attends all day, please also provide us with a named bottle so that staff can reapply after lunch. Please ensure your child has a hat and appropriate footwear for climbing and exploring the Orchard. Unfortunately, flip-flops and sliders are not safe for outdoor play. Please also ensure that all clothing, including hats and jackets are named.

I am always here to help with any questions or support you may need around settling your child into nursery, toilet training, behaviour, sleeping, starting school applications … the list is endless.  I am usually at the gate at 8.45am and 3.00pm, so if I can help in any way, please come and speak to me - if you can't find me, just call or email.  The staff in your child’s class are happy to speak to you with more specific questions about the curriculum and nursery life, but please do contact me if you feel I can help.  Please also see the "Useful Links" page, which I hope you will find of use.

I am also a “Domestic Abuse Responder” and our nursery is a BDAP (Bedfordshire Domestic Abuse Partnership) Support Hub, so please come and speak to me in confidence if you need any help or support.

Please also ensure that your child has at least one spare change of clothes at nursery, including socks.  We also ask that your child does not bring any toys from home. It is easy for these to get lost at nursery, and it can be very upsetting when they cannot be found at home time.
